Can you believe we get to do this?!
Ya, life is hard. So many times as a mom I need to just really be able to relate to other mommas who are also sitting on the kitchen floor picking up an entire box of fishy crackers or who are literally crying over spilled milk (ya, I see the irony, and yes, I’ve done it) while trying to pull themselves together to clean it up.
And then sometimes(or ALL the time) WE just need the encouragement. We don’t need the “life is perfect all the time so just be thankful” - cause life IS NOT. I’m pretty sure it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that one out. I DO think what we COULD use every so often is the encouragement from other mommas that just says “ya, I getcha. I’m with ya. It’s hard. It’s amazing. It’s all the things In between. And in all of it, can you believe we GET to do this!?”
“Can you believe we have babies to love? it’s ok, cry it out cause loving can be HARD.”
“Can you believe we get to have messes to clean up because that means our kiddos are developing and learning?” I say that as I curse every toy that isn’t round(I feel like my feet should have actual holes in them by now) and roll of unrolled toilet paper.
I get that sometimes you wish you could just quit, just for a bit.. just for like, five seconds.
It seems like there are two sides of this momma coin and somehow we are constantly feeling, seeing and living both at the same time. There’s the side that says “can you believe we get to do this?!” in all its beauty and wonder, and the other side that’s screaming “what the HECK?!!!!!!”.
I think the most amazing thing is that we don’t get to do any of this alone. we get to do it (with all its meltdowns and breakdowns and sweat and tears) together. The beautiful intangible bond that unites us is that coin.
Find strength, courage, encouragement and hope in that momma coin. Be vulnerable, be kind. Look around and remind each other with love and understanding - “can you believe we get to do this?!”.
